Cookoothama is a bottling produced by Nugan Family Estate in Australia. It is the family's label dedicated to providing quality wines that consistently over deliver on value.

The juice for the Cookoothama wines come from all estate grown fruit. Nugan Estate produces 550,000 cases of wine and has 519 hectares of estate fruit under vine. They are the 13th largest exporter of Australian wine. As this portfolio of wines attest, they continue to focus on quality from top to bottom. And Cookoothama is a perfect example of the quality at a bottom price. Great quality for $8.99!

Plenty of black fruits and spice on the nose. Lots of blackberries and licorice, medium-bodied, with a very soft feel to it. Very pleasant and smooth. It won't overwhelm the food your having like many Shiraz will.

Gold Medal winner at the Sydney Wine Show 2009

Go Cuckoo for Cookoothama!

The Nugan Family winery is dedicated to producing premium estate grown wines from the family's vineyards across Australia. Their Cookoothama label is made from estate grown fruit from the family's vineyards in the King Valley and Darlington Point.

Cookoothama "cooka-a-tharma" is the name of the family's vineyard at Darlington Point on the Murrumbidgee River and is the aboriginal word meaning 'fertile land'. The two hands on the label represent the people who have lived and cultivated the land spread along the banks of the Murrumbidgee River transforming it into the prosperous land it is today.

Winemaker's Notes

Deep crimson with a youthful purple hue. Complex aromas of ripe berry and spice with a hint of toasty oak. A full-bodied wine displaying elegant tannins and powerful fruit concentration with a well-structured palate of dark cherry and blackberry melded with earthy overtones and well-integrated oak.
