2006 Razor's Edge Shiraz/Grenache

We've been waiting in anticipation for the Razor's Edge Shiraz/Grenache 2006 which we tasted back in June. We thought the quality was great, reminding us of why we love Australian reds. Some may think they are too fruity, a little too high in alcohol, and even too pricey. Nonsense, the wines cannot be disputed for the tremendous value they offer for a full-bodied red that is packed with flavor. And yes, it has the warming feel to on the finish that you find in wines with a little more alcohol. A little more alcohol won't hurt, in moderation of course.

The wine finally arrived after weeks of pestering the supplier to find out when it's arriving. We were hoping to have this wine for the summer but better late than never.

And it was awarded a 91 point score during the summer by the Wine Spectator. Well on its way to being included in the Top 100 of 2008!

You won't find too many McLaren Vale reds like the Razor's Edge with a great score and a great price!

Polished, round and expressive. A gorgeous mouthful of ripe blackberry, plum, cherry and exotic spices, with hints of leather and brown sugar nibbling at the edge. The finish rolls on and on against superfine tannins. Drink now through 2016. 5,000 cases imported.
