FX Pichler is widely regarded as the finest wine estate in Austria. All of its wines come from the Wachau region. This Riesling is grown in terraced vineyards on the steep slopes of the mountains, called the Urgestein Terrassen. Federspiel is an Austrian term relating to the ripeness of the grapes, roughly the equivalent of German Kabinett, although fermented completely dry in Austria.

A racy style, with concentrated flavors of Fuji apple, mineral and glazed citrus. There are tropical fruit hints midpalate, with a lightly spiced finish that features plenty of dry extract. Drink now through 2015. 40 cases imported.–KM

Pale green-yellow. Displays exceptional varietal fruit character with its aromas and flavors of firm, ripe peach and yellow apple drizzled with blossom honey. Racy, incredibly crisp acidity and a strong dose of minerals give this wine a fine-boned structure and a light touch. Finishes with excellent lemony persistence. Conveys an old-vines character in its intensity and depth of minerality. Drink now to 2018.
