April 29, 2009 Wine Deals E-Blast
We received our first 40 six packs back in November and sold them out the same day. We're giving those who missed out the first time a second chance at this 96 pointer!
Anderson's Conn Valley Vineyards are located just east of St. Helena in the Napa Valley where Conn Creek flows out of Howell Mountain. Twenty-six acres of vineyards, divided into nine blocks, along with a fifteen acre-foot resevour are the heart of this 40-acre grape-growing paradise.
Separated from the Napa Valley floor by a north/south running ridge, the world-renowned wineries of Joseph Heitz and Joseph Phelps are located on the west side of this ridge and the Anderson's Estate Vineyards are on the east side at a perfect elevation of 400 feet.
Full-bodied, with cedar, fresh crushed spices, hint of saddle leather. Very complex. Sweet and silky tannins give this a great finish.

The 2005 Eloge, essentially the same blend as the 2004, is even better. A terrific wine that has put on significant weight since I tasted it last year. It now reveals gorgeous incense, cedar, black currant, and cherry notes intermixed with some spice box, new saddle leather, and smoky, gamey notes. Full-bodied, dense, chewy, but gorgeously elegant, complex, and altogether perfectly balanced, this is a fabulous effort and is already drinkable, but promises to evolve and last for at least another 15-20 years. |
