Established in 1987, Domaine Carneros is a regional landmark, announcing that you have reached the Napa Valley on the way north from San Francisco. Domaine Carneros was established by the venerable Taittinger Champagne family in order to produce sparkling wines in California.

From the beginning, Domaine Carneros built a reputation for the excellence of their sparkling wines. In addition, in the early years of the winery they sold some Pinot Noir fruit to California’s top Pinot Noir producers. After coming to the conclusion that others were using their fruit to make great Pinots, they saw that they had something special on their hands for the creation of red wine. Beginning in 1992, the production of Pinot Noir was added to the Domaine Carneros repertoire.

Winemaker's Notes:

The 2007 vintage was extraordinary. The harvest began early and then cool weather slowed ripening, creating enhanced flavor concentration. The resulting harvest, while very small, produced a wine to be remembered. This Pinot Noir has a luscious juiciness that invites contemplation (and a second glass). It is redolent with aromas of raspberry and black cherry that are enhanced with hints of smoke, orange peel and exotic spice. You will enjoy this wine today and for many years.

Wine Spectator 90 Points

Floral, anise and crushed berry aromas are intense, supple and balanced, built around raspberry, wild berry and hints of strawberry. Ends with an elegant minerally edge. Drink now through 2013. 5,500 cases made.–JL
