After working with regional winemaking stars such as Tom Dehlinger, Robert Stemmler, Davis Bynum and Joe Rochioli, Gary Farrell launched Gary Farrell Wines in 1982, producing 50 cases of Pinot Noir from the now famous Rochioli and Allen vineyards.
Perched atop a hillside overlooking the serene and enigmatic Russian River Valley, the winery is a tribute to Gary’s winemaking vision –– with a striking pristine character that aptly reflects a craftsman’s ruthless attention to detail.
Winemaker's Notes:
This 2008 Russian River Chardonnay shows a lemon-gold color with medium intensity and bright clarity in appearance. The developing nose has medium plus intensity and shows ripe apple, pear, acacia blossom, lemon, toast, popcorn and vanilla. The palate is dry with medium plus acidity, body, flavor intensity and length, showing additional notes of citrus peel and butterscotch. The wine’s lively acidity and supple viscosity will lend itself to many seafood and poultry dishes, as well as aged Gouda cheeses. Reviews Wine Spectator 89 Points
Firm, intense and vibrant, with a spicy nutmeg edge to the ripe apple and pear flavors. Medium- to full-bodied, this elegant white ends with a long, complex finish. Needs time. Drink now through 2016. 4,474 cases made.–JL |
