Another winning bottling from an intensive blending and tasting session with winemaker Bill Nancarrow, our Grand Finale from Duckhorn is what we like to think of as Napa's answer to Cheval Blanc, sourced from Duckhorn's own Estate vines. A blend of 60% Cabernet Franc and 40% Merlot from three blocks in the Patzimaro Vineyard in Saint Helena, it was aged for 18 months in 100% new Treuil and Seguin Moreau French oak before bottling.
The resulting wine has wonderful amplitude and finesse, with rich, intense black currant, plums, and winter spice flavors that are absolutely delicious. Sweet tobacco notes are also present along with garden herbs such as sage and rosemary. This wine is superbly balanced and has nice tannic structure that is balanced by the opulent fruit. (Cheval Blanc wishes they could get their hands on our Grand Finale.)
