The Merlot comes primarily from the Oak Knoll district of Napa, an area with soil and climate similarities to Pomerol in Bordeaux and which has a long history of great Merlot. Lots of blackberries, chocolate and with a touch of mocha. Rich flavors that are layered with good structure, depth, and complexity usually not found with a California Merlot under $20. A nice little QPR for a Napa Merlot.
