Winemaker's Notes:
2007 is a vintage marked by ripe fruit and equally ripe tannins. We opted for a little longer wood elevage with the 2007 as the fruit tannins were enjoying their time in barrel so we let the marriage last a little longer. We definitely like the results, with the fruit viscosity in total harmony with the subtle barrel spice. This brings out some of the more tender aspects of the varietal, making it approachable now but certainly still a cellar candidate. A few more months of tannin integration in bottle and this will be very seductive juice.
Violet purple color. Aromatics of red raspberry, anise and baker’s chocolate. Secondary aromas of smoked black pepper, sandalwood, cinnamon, black olive and earth emerge with aeration. The palate is lush and textured, with the fruit viscosity framed by well-integrated tannins.

Intense and full-bodied, with a loamy earth edge to the mineral, sage, tobacco, cedar and dried berry flavors. Picks up extra depth and complexity on the finish. Drink now through 2017. 225 cases made.–JL
