Two Aces Up His Sleeves!
Many years ago, California banned the game of 21, or Blackjack. Roger Wisted invented and copywrote a game he calls California Blackjack, where the object is to add up to 22, thereby circumventing the law. He used his profits from selling the rights to the game to casinos to found Blackjack Ranch Winery, indulging his longtime love of wine.
His wines have been a great success, leading Robert Parker to say "This is one of the best-run wineries in Santa Barbara. Proprietor Roger Wisted clearly looks to France for his inspiration. His wines possess all the flavor of California yet more elegance and complexity than is typical for many of this state's wines."
Winemaker's Notes:
Its difficult to describe this wine accurately without sounding like a salesperson. Simply put you will not find a deeper, richer, chardonnay in this price range, anywhere. I drank one the other night at Matteis and scored it 94 points. I urge you to load up on this wine. Remember, you know where to find me if you disagree. Parker gave the 2005 version 90 points. Although he has not yet tasted this new release I assure you it is one of the best chardonnay values in the world!!!!
