Winemaker's Notes:
Our 2009 Smoking Loon Viognier opens up with a silky, creamy nose and notes of peach cobbler, apricot, and fresh vanilla. Sweet baking spice with hints of toast and cinnamon come from a small amount of high quality French oak that integrates well with Viognier. The resulting flavors have a nectar-like quality, evoking extra ripe white peaches, fresh popped corn, and a wisp of vanilla. The mid-palate is very lush and full-bodied, but the finish takes a food-friendly twist with a burst of crisp acidity. A touch of peach skin and lemon zest linger on the finish, bringing summer baked goods to mind.
