In our Pinot Noir we are above all looking for those lots that show a balance of tannin and acid, fruit flavors that while rich, dark-red and complex, are not overblown or leaning toward the burnt jam style of Pinot you sometimes see. Our Carneros bottling delivers distinctive Pinot Noir character in a wine of power, grace and elegance.

The delicious 2011 Pinot Noir possesses a dark ruby color along with savory black cherry, spice box and floral notes, medium body, a velvety texture and an alluring, sensual style. Enjoy it over the next 2-4 years. One of the pioneers of high quality Pinot Noir from Carneros, Saintsbury continues to roll along doing the same thing they have done for over three decades.

Supple, graceful and understated, with modest strawberry and red berry fruit. Drinks well now. Drink now through 2016. 7,000 cases made.–JL

Bright, medium cherry-red. Pungent aromas of cherry, raspberry, spices, cola and orange zest, complicated by a smoky nuance. Bright, lively red fruit flavors are silky and easygoing. Very good palate presence and texture here, and more tangy and gripping on the finish than the 2010 model.–ST

An expressive and cool nose offers up notes of dark berries, plum and soft spice nuances. There is good volume and phenolic maturity to the vibrant middle weight flavors that possess reasonably good depth on the lingering finish. I like the clean style and this could easily be enjoyed now.
