The venerable Saintsbury winery has turned out a screw cap-finished 2009 unfiltered Chardonnay that sells for a song. Crisp citrus blossom notes with a whiff of honey make for an attractive, fresh, Chablisean style of Chardonnay. The wine has good fruit and should drink well over the next several years.

Bright, green-tinged yellow. Supple and juicy, with firm acidity framing the flavors of citrus zest, pear, minerals and vanilla; a light peppery quality provides lift. Not especially complex or long, but there's good fruit and cut here.
