Well before the economy slowed down, we were already on the hunt for a quality Pinot Noir at an affordable price for the holidays. It's never an easy task finding good Pinot Noir that's inexpensive, because it's such a pricey and labor-intensive grape to grow. But persistence paid off; we found one! A trip to France over the summer brought a high quality Pinot Noir that could retail under $10 to our attention: Delatour Pinot Noir Cuvee Premier 2007. It was juicy. It was just a little earthy. It was everything a French Pinot should be. But it was...in France. We found ourselves faced with a logistical dilemma. How could we get it from France to New Jersey by the holidays? The only way to do it was buy a whole lot of it so the delivery could be scheduled right away. And the hard work paid off...though we did cut it pretty close!

Red and black cherries on the palate. Good minerality and purity. Classic French Pinot with some earthiness and great fruit yet it's sill dry which is generally difficult to find at this price range. A Pinot under $10 that drinks more like a $15 Pinot. A great buy!
