Robert Parker recently released his latest Wine Advocate including his report on the 2008 vintage in Bordeaux. He sees many wines from 2008 rivaling their 2005s."... the quality of the 2008 vintage turned out to be excellent, with a number of superb wines that are close to, if not equal to the prodigious 2005 or 2000 vintages (two years with many of the best wines I have ever tasted from top to bottom)"

A sleeper of the vintage, the slightly oaky 2008 exhibits sweet, fleshy raspberry and black currant fruit intermixed with hints of flowers, caramel, coffee and chocolate. Consume it over the next 6-8 years.

Quite toasty, with lots of coffee and warm cocoa notes, followed by mulled fig, plum and black currant fruit and a healthy dose of maduro tobacco on the broad, fleshy finish. Not shy in style, but good underlying acidity keeps it all together. Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. Drink now through 2014. 4,580 cases made. -JM

The 2008 La Fleur de Bouard has crisp red-berried fruit on the nose with touches of cranberry, briary and a touch of sea salt. Nice definition. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins, fresh acidity, tertiary/sous-bois notes furnishing the tannic, dry finish. Very classic in style that has mellowed nicely in barrel. Drink 2013-2020+ Tasted October 2010.
