Robert Parker 88-90 Points
The 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape has the potential to be an outstanding wine when released next year. A dense ruby/purple color is followed by sweet aromas of cassis, black cherries, loamy soil, spice box, and roasted herbs. Deep, rich, and full-bodied with silky tannin as well as great freshness and vibrancy for a wine of such substance, it should be consumed over the next decade. Roger Perrin has turned out some beautiful wines, especially his top cuvee of Vieilles Vignes, which is exceptionally strong in both vintages. However, his wines are always fairly priced, so readers should not ignore his basic cuvee.

Bright red. Sexy aromas of fresh red berries, incense and flowers, with a gentle kiss of smoky minerals. Light-bodied, pinot-like red fruit flavors are brightened by blood orange and deepened by a candied violet quality. Finishes supple and persistent.
