Pascal Delbeck Superstar of Saint Emilion!
Pascal Delbeck was the winemaker at the legendary Chateau Ausone for over thirty years as well as owning the nearly as famous Chateau Bel Air. He has been long recognized as one of Saint Emilion's finest winemakers. He now brings his years of expertise to his newest project, Chateau Tour du Pas St Georges.
Saint-Georges Saint-Emilion has long been recognized as the most prestigious and most high quality of the "satellites Saint-Emilion", the smaller villages that surround the hilltop village. The site of Chateau Tour du Pas St Georges is an exceptional one, with an ideal mixture of soil types covering 35 acres which are situated on a south facing slope to ensure that the grapes achieve optimal ripeness.
Chateau Tour du Pas St Georges is a blend of 60% Merlot, 35% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon aged in oak for 15 months. The barrels used are a mixture of 30% new, 50% one year old, and 20% that have been used briefly for the fermentation of white wines. The resulting wine has all of the best characters of the region. It has a beautiful bright red/purple color, with an aroma of very ripe red fruit and cocoa. In the mouth the fruit character is reinforced, with an added structure provided by fine, elegant tannins. The mouthfeel is very smooth, and is followed by a long, bold finish.
