Vinsobres has been one of the "up and coming" appellations in the Southern Rhone Valley over the past several years. In 2005, The Appellation d'Origine Controlee (AOC) in France awarded Vinsobres their own appellation, joining Chateauneuf du Pape and Gigondas.
Wines from this area are produced with a similar blend to many Chateauneuf du Papes and strive to be the quality of Chateauneuf du Pape. Fortunately, you are able to find Vinsobres for half the price of most Chateauneuf du Papes, at least for now. Today's offer is on a Vinsobres produced by Domaine Jaume from the much heralded 2007 vintage. It is a blend of 60% Grenache and 40% Syrah.
A great deal on an 07 Rhone from Vinsobres, an "up and coming" appellation that offers amazing value today!

Silky and racy, with a floral note in front of gorgeous raspberry and boysenberry fruit that's laced with graphite and red licorice notes. The long, fine-grained finish has nice buried grip. Drink now through 2011. 4,165 cases made.–JM
