Smoked meat, marine minerality, and Szechuan pepper inflect the ripe but tart black fruits of Burgaud’s 2008 Morgon Cote de Py Reserve, a juicy, vibrant bottling exhibiting an invigorating graininess rather than anything remotely resembling the remarkable polish of its 2009 counterpart. That said, this is a lovely wine that will be especially interesting to compare over the next 2-3 years with Burgaud’s no less distinguished “regular” Cote de Py bottling.
