The 2008 Winemaker’s Collection Cuvee No 4 Haut Medoc is made by Stephane Derenoncourt, world renowned winemaker for estates such as Canon la Gaffeliere, Pavie Macquin, Smith Haut Lafitte, and Beausejour Duffau, just to name a few of them.

This the fourth wine in a series that began with Michel Rolland’s version called Episode One from the 2005 vintage. Each year a single vineyard parcel at Chateau d’Arsac in the Haut-Medoc, just outside of Margaux, is controlled by a single winemaker, who then makes the wine in his own style.

The 2008 Winemaker’s Collection No 4 Stephane Derenoncourt Haut Medoc is drinking beautifully right now. The nose is well-developed with secondary nuances already showing. Great complexity, black currant, cedar, tobacco, and ripe tannins on the finish.

Reviews

Robert Parker 89-92 Points

Stephane Derenoncourt’s Cuvee Numero 4 is a more forward style (even more so than the 2005 and 2006) with velvety tannins, and sweet black currant and black cherry fruit intermixed with subtle smoke and licorice. This well-made, medium to full-bodied effort should drink gorgeously well young, yet evolve for 10-15 years.
