The van Volxem estate was formerly owned by an abbey, and was privatized in 1993, and sold again in 1999. In addition to their estate wines, van Volxem has created the "Saar-Riesling-Projekt" where they have contracted with growers to produce fruit according to their strict specifications. Sustainable, integrated vineyard practices are implemented, no insecticides or chemical fertilisers are used. Yields are kept extremely low. Beginning in 2003, the "Saar-Riesling-Projekt" has produced this delicious dry Saar Riesling blend.
