A slightly faded ruby red. Fine, delicate and persistent bouquet with characteristic trace scents of strawberry and raspberry. Pleasantly bitterish, velvety, at once elegant and full.

Vibrant and densely tannic, yet balanced overall. More square than linear. With air, this reveals cherry and balsamic flavors. Decant now. Drink now through 2019. 2,800 cases imported.–BS

Good bright, deep red. In a distinctly powerful, slightly warm style, offering highly aromatic scents of blueberry, blackberry, licorice and leather. Concentrated and serious, with sound acidity giving shape to the dark berry and spice flavors. Quite primary and firmly tannic now but not hard. This can be enjoyed young or held. Ratti picked these vines a week before his nebbiolo in Barolo, noting that the Ochetti is clearly not a declassified Barolo. Like some other nebbiolo bottlings from the Langhe, the Ochetti is becoming increasingly popular in U.S. restaurants.-ST

The 2011 Nebbiolo d'Alba Ochetti is big, rich and enveloping in style, as so many wines are in this vintage. Rich dark cherries, smoke, licorice, spices and tobacco flow through to the voluptuous, intense finish.
