The 2006 Brunello di Montalcino is a gorgeous wine. Sweet dark fruit, menthol, licorice and worn-in leather are some of the nuances that emerge from this perfumed, supple Brunello. The wine’s soft harmonious personality and refined finish make it delicious even at this early stage, although readers who seek more tertiary complexity will want to cellar it for a few years. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2024.

Starts off subtle and delicate, and finishes with a wonderful depth of fruit and ultra silky tannins. This really builds beautifully in the glass. I wouldn’t drink it for two or three years, but it’s very beautiful now.
