Highest Ranked Super Tuscan In The Top 100 Of 2011
The 2007 Terrabianca Campaccio was one of our best bets to be included in the top half of the Wine Spectator’s Top 100 of 2011. It was a best bet because the wine is simply outstanding, it scored 93 points, and it’s just $21.98 per bottle even though the Wine Spectator’s list price is $30, and it’s a Super Tuscan! When the list was revealed, we were right, it is the Wine Spectator #36 Wine of 2011.
Terrabianca Campaccio exhibits the best characteristics of 2007, with very silky red and black fruits that are layered, leading to a long and lasting finish that continues to be silky and smooth.
We've selected the 2007 Terrabianca Campaccio as our # 3 email wine of the year.
Reviews Antonio Galloni Wine Advocate 92 Points
The 2007 Campaccio is beautifully ripe and succulent in its dark, extroverted fruit. In 2007, Campaccio veers on the edge of overripeness but there is just enough acidity to keep things in check. French oak, smokiness, new leather and licorice add depth to the rich, creamy finish. I am not sure how the 2007 will age, but it should provide highly pleasurable drinking for at least another decade. Campaccio is 70% Sangiovese and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2022.
Wine Spectator 93 Points
Very silky and floral, this red reminds me of Burgundy with its bilberry, violet and raspberry aromas and flavors. The grainy tannins show the other side to this wine, which needs time for the two components to balance. Ends with a long, intense, fruit-filled finish. Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon. Best from 2014 through 2027. 12,500 cases made.-BS
