"Oregon's newest star", recent article posted by Harvey Steinman of the Wine Spectator,
"Oregon insiders have been buzzing over Evening Land, a new project involving star Burgundy winemaker Dominique Lafon and Hollywood producer and wine entrepreneur Mark Tarlov (who has two other projects revving up in California).... " Marc and a team of investors acquired the Seven Springs Vineyard in 2007 through an exclusive long term lease.
The vineyard was known for supplying top wineries such as St Innocent, Cristom, Penner-Ash, Domaine Drouhin, and Argyle's reserve bottling. His idea was to create a "Monopole" in the same fashion as La Tache in Burgundy. Therefore, he could blend fruit from all over the vineyard to produce a signature (village) wine that could sell under $50. And at the same time be able to produce some better cuvees from some of the best vineyard sites much like a premier or grand cru wine in Burgundy.
We had the pleasure of tasting the 92 point Seven Springs Pinot Noir recently with Mark Tarlov. You can view the video above. Reviews Wine Spectator 92 Points
Bright and juicy, with lively acidity and a streak of distinctive minerality running through the raspberry and floral flavors, lingering on the refined finish. Best from 2010 through 2014. 1,519 cases made. -HS |
