The current releases, all of them excellent to outstanding values, begin with the unoaked 2010 Carro, a blend of 50% Monastrell, 35% Syrah, with the balance Tempranillo and Merlot. Notes of game, underbrush, and blueberry inform the nose of this pure, spicy, pleasure-bent red. Drink it over the next 3 years. Senorio de Barahonda dates back to 1925 and has been operated continuously by the Candela family. Their vineyards cover 840 acres in and around the town of Yecla in Murcia and include some of the oldest Monastrell plantings in Spain. All of the wines are produced from organically farmed estate-grown fruit.

Bright ruby. Mineral-driven aromas of cherry and dark berries show good clarity and a hint of peppery spice. Dry and focused, offering zesty dark fruit flavors and a firm note of cherry pit. Shows good intensity on the finish, which features tangy acidity and assertive spiciness.
