The outstanding 2010 Rioja Reserva Única is composed of 97% Tempranillo and 3% old vine Graciano aged 24 months in French and American oak barrels. Aromas of tobacco leaf, Christmas fruitcake, blackcurrants, licorice and a hint of barbecue smoke emerge from this medium-bodied red. With good flesh, concentration and density as well as excellent balance and a pure, silky, tannic finish, it can be enjoyed over the next 5-7 years.

This dense red is rich with plum, currant and mineral flavors, accented by strong toast and smoky notes. Lively acidity balances the muscular tannins. Powerful, but leaves a juicy, floral finish. Drink now through 2025. 500 cases made. –TM

Opaque ruby. Highly aromatic bouquet displays scents of black raspberry, Asian spices and potpourri, with a bright mineral nuance contributing precision. Spicy and penetrating, boasting excellent clarity to its lively flavors of red berries, rose pastille and spicecake. Reminds me a lot of a sexy, ripe New World pinot. This graceful wine shows potent floral and spice character on the long, sappy, gently tannic finish.-JR
