While most people think of Washington as a rainy place, that really only applies to the coastal part of the state. If you travel east, over the Cascade Mountains, you arrive in a high desert. Here, the long growing season and the ability to carefully control the water that the grapes recieve, makes for ideal Cabernet growing territory.
The long growing season allows for extended hang time, adding depth and complexity to the wine. The desert conditions mean that there is no danger of rain spoiling a vintage, and through irrigation a perfect balance in the fruit can be achieved.
