Cabernet Tasting Kit

Cabernet Tasting KitThis Cabernet Day Tasting Kit Includes

One bottle each of;

2007 Angels Landing Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

From Calistoga fruit, an area made famous by Chateau Montelena. This is a deeply colored Cab with loads of blackberry, currant, and lots of mocha. Very good structure but the tannins are very ripe. This will be a real crowd pleaser for any occasion.

2007 Joseph Phelps Innisfree Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

Produced primarily from Phelps estate fruit (the same estate that makes the $150 Insignia Cabernet), Innisfree is baby-Phelps only in the regard that the wine is meant to be consumed young and fresh, while the flavors of ripe blueberry, blackberry and currant are at their best. No harsh, drying tannins here: this wine is big, juicy and ripe, oozing with sweet tannins and carrying a noticeably lengthy finish.  Is Innisfree good every year?  Yes.  Is it better than ever in the 2007 vintage?  You got that right. Well done, Phelps team.

Soiree Wine Aerator

To help you enjoy these even more, we are including a Soiree wine aerator.  Just pull the cork, pop the Soiree into the bottle and pour. The Soiree will aerate your Cab, maklng sure that every sip will display all of the great facets of Cabernet that make it the King of Grapes!

2007 GF Grand Finale Turnbull Wine Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon

GF Grand FinaleShortly after we purchased the 2007 Turnbull Auction Lot at Premiere Napa Valley 2009, winemaker Peter Heitz let it slip that he had more than one special barrel of ’07 fruit stashed away.  Having loved the ’07 blend they created for Premiere, we asked him if he could create another blend for our Grand Finale program, and what we got was wine that’s just singing already.

A blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cabernet Franc, 5% Petit Verdot, 5% Malbec and 5% Merlot, it’s a classic case of letting Cab create the backbone and bringing in a few friends to round it all out.  Flashy and ready-to-drink as many ’07 Napa Cabs are, this one is also equipped for a few years in the cellar.  Ripe, dark cherry fruit gives way to cassis, sweet chocolatey tannins and roasted coffee on a smooth, lengthy finish.

Wine Cellar Tour

wine-cellar.jpgA Tour of a world-renowned Wine Cellar of Restaurant Latour at Crystal Springs Resort. Restaurant Latour opened in August 2004 and has already received several impressive awards and accolades. The most prestigious honor received to date is from Wine Spectator magazine, which awarded its highest honor – the Grand Award - to Restaurant Latour annually since 2006. One of less than 80 restaurants to hold this coveted title worldwide, Restaurant Latour is also one of just 2 Grand Award recipients located in New Jersey. Restaurant Latour has also been rated “Excellent” by The New York Times and received a perfect “4-Star” rating from The Star-Ledger.

The amazing Wine Cellar tour takes place three stories below Restaurant Latour. An original wine cellar was constructed in 2004, but after just one year, the Resort realized that the two rooms built were too small for the growing inventory of wines and in succession added six more rooms ... all of them filled from top to bottom with wine. The current inventory contains approximately 6,600 labels and 80,000 bottles from around the world, and those numbers are increasing every week!
